A rich morning of movement, sound, words and creative expression, co-led by Leela Fisk and Kate Reed.
We’ll explore deep embodiment and finding our voices, allowing murmurings and movement to take form as words and pour into expression, perhaps even into a poem.
The workshop will include mindful movement, sound and writing, making space to listen to what wants to emerge from the body, without needing to know where it’s going.
Weather permitting, we’ll also spend some time in Dartington Gardens, weaving sensory experience of the natural world into our explorations.
No experience of movement or writing is needed, just come with your curiosity and a willingness to explore.
This is a Movement for Life community group project, supported by National Lottery Community Funding.
This workshop is for cis women and those assigned female at birth who identify as gender non-binary/gender fluid.

Leela Fisk has been leading community dance projects locally since 2010, working in education since 1999. She has great trust in the company of the ocean, where she finds a conversation of movement, song, poetry and silence.
As founder of the Devon School of Soul Motion and Movement for Life community group, she has trained community dance practitioners and leads ongoing local community dance groups. Her personal practice explores body in landscape, and how movement can reconnect us with our physical nature in an increasingly technological world.
Kate has a lifelong passion for connecting with aliveness through movement, nature, and creative expression. She brings her openness, her love of dance, movement, and the natural landscape into her work, alongside her training in drama and movement therapy, environmental arts therapy and embodied leadership.
Her approach is influenced by Soul Motion and mindfulness. Through these practises she invites a space for people to connect with themselves, others and the living landscape.
Kate will be assisting some of the sessions of the Body & Voice series.
We cannot offer refunds for this series but you are welcome to rollover to any future session. If you need to cancel your attendance then you are welcome to pass or sell your ticket to someone else.
Please let us know about any injuries, physical limitations or sensitivities that may affect your participation.
While movement can be therapeutic, this is not a therapy session. Please consider whether you feel emotionally and physically resourced enough to take part on the day.
You are responsible for listening to your body and working within your own physical limitations. This also applies if we move outside into the gardens, where the ground and surroundings may be uneven.
