The Foundations level is where you attend classes, workshops and ongoing groups to fulfill the pre-requisite hours for the training.
These hours, which can be done at your own pace, are a vital part of preparing yourself the deeper journey ahead.
This preparation ensures the training space can support richer exploration, deeper connection, and meaningful growth for everyone.
We offer a full calendar of drop-in dances, ongoing series and regular guest teachers from the international Soul Motion community, all of which count torwards pre-requisite Soul Motion hours.
To join Level 1, you’ll need a total of 200 hours of experience or a clear plan to complete any remaining hours. In-person group movement experience is fundamental to our practice, and some online experience can count – especially where you have limited access to in-person dance.
Please reach out if you have any questions about how your past experience may count toward these hours. We can discuss an appropriate plan to ensure you meet the necessary foundation.
We value the diversity of movement forms available and within our unique backgrounds.
There are several ways to build your Soul Motion hours, both in-person and online. Whether you prefer weekly classes, weekend workshops, or a combination of both, you can create a schedule that suits your needs. See our calendar for upcoming events with Leela and Adam.
Our local Soul Motion community offers a variety of in-person classes and workshops. The following teachers offer regular sessions:
Leela Fisk (www.leelafisk.com)
Adam Griffin (www.deepdivedance.com) – Friday Morning Dance
The International Conscious Movement Teachers Association (ICMTA) is hosting their annual Teachers’ Gathering at Dartington Trust in Devon, 25-27 May 2027. This can also count towards pre-requisite hours for our training. www.icmta.com/teachers-gathering
In addition to regular sessions, the Devon School of Soul Motion hosts visiting teachers for weekend workshops. These count toward both Foundation hours and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Many of our graduates are also offering community classes. If you would like to connect with them, please see the graduate directory.
Regular South Devon classes with our graduates:
